Insomniac's Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty is the first (and possibly only) episodic DLC for the series. Community Relations Manager James Stevenson told us during a hands-on session that RC:QB is an "experiment" and that it could serve as either the start of an episodic series or just a transition between two disc-based titles.

The 3 to 4 hour game is built on the Tools of Destruction engine with some better lighting. Other than a new grapple feature, which is used for puzzle solving and world interaction, the game is in many ways an extension of the Ratchet and Clank series. Stevenson said the game was planned to be "more heavily focused" on platforming elements instead of the guns (although those are available as the game progresses).

The game features NPC interaction that, although it has no gameplay effects, can add a bit of humor. Stevenson explained that if you tell someone you sell "crotchetizers," that he'll reply there is no need for them on the island, and villagers you walk by will wave and call you "that crotchetizer guy."

Overall, whether you will enjoy the game comes down to whether or not you like the Ratchet series and don't mind earning your arsenarl of weaponry. Quest for Booty is set to plunder on September 30 for $14.99

Where everyone else is struggling with the PS3, Insomniac will have released three and a half games for it in only two years.

I don't get why Sony hasn't bought them up already.

why would they bother insomniac are happy deveoping exclusively for playstation and they dont seem in need of financial assistance, sony probably wouldnt gain anything from buying them out

Whatever they do with this game, they had better end the whole storyline produced by RC: Future. All of the previous games' stories were all self inclusive, but the ending for Future left it open to the point that you would HAVE to buy the sequel to finish it. The next full R&C game better have a new bad guy and a whole new, separate storyline to define it.

Just for the record, Resistance, R&C: Tools of Destruction and R2 all use the same engine. It's been improved over time though.

I think this is part of Insomniac's secret to making a lot of good games fast.

Hey guys,

Just to be clear, neither Insomniac nor Sony has announced a release date. It will be out this summer, we're just trying to lock down a date that works with us and the other territories so it can come out as a worldwide release. As soon as we know more, we'll share it.

uh does anyone know if you could play the game over like the older games (when u finish the game u go in challenge mode and stuff liike that)
and to that matter .. can u do that in R&C FTD ... lol i stil don't have a ps3 but im geting the 80gb core pack so i wanna know now

They can probably push their game engine now more than tools of destruction but how much?

tools of destruction does have challenge mode. i don't know for certain about quest for booty, but then again, it would'nt be a proper ratchet and clank game without it.
