Zero Punctuation whips it good with Lego Indy

Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee takes on both the Lego Indiana Jones game and the latest movie in his latest review. For his take on the game, the ornery critic comes up with an equation for figuring out how much you'll enjoy playing as Indy in the blockified platformer.

If doing mathematicals isn't your thing, just think about how much fun you'll have killing Short Round -- or Willie -- over and over again. Although it still doesn't beat the cathartic Jar-Jar killing of the Lego Star Wars game.

He said in the credits he doesn't want to keep using copyrighted music, though I always thought their was something called "Fair Use" that protected the usage of very small clips of songs.

Also, it was very funny this week.

I would also like to add that I agree with him when he says there are only 3 Indiana Jones movies.

Every copy of the Crystal Skull deserves to be burned in a volcano and deleted of the memories of every human being so we can ignore is existance forever.

I've actually always thought using copyrighted music for his stuff was probably not "fair use." He probably heard that it was questionable and mentioned it in the credits to try to cover his ass.

Yeah, I'm going to miss that if he keeps this new one up. The songs gave each video somewhat of a theme, or had some relation to what he was reviewing, and it's those small touches that makes things like this better.

A bit of a random thought, but I remember it was about a week later after his Halo 3 video that I had realized the line "You say goodbye, while I say hello" from the Beatles song made sense.

As I remember, you can only use up to 5 seconds of copyrighted material (music, movies, tv etc.), but I also think there is a rule if you some how make money from the use.

I did, and beat it. It was ok.. not as good as lego star wars.

I think it's because with lego star wars you could either have a light saber and deflect all blaster-fire, or have a blaster and quickly shoot everyone.

In Indy you have a whip, or basically a shovel. Only in freeplay can you use a character with a gun. You can whip a gun out of an enemy's hand, but it's only good for like 5 shots, and more often than not, the whip won't do what you want it to do. Press A to perform random action!

They were the purest form of platforming in that game.

Sure they were infuriatingly hard after being nudged along helpfully by FLUDD for the rest of the game, but it made finishing them such a sense of achievement.

A pre-cursor to Galaxy I'd say except Galaxy toned them down because a game filled with just them would have been nightmarishly difficult.

Everything went to the s*it at the very beginning.

Surviving a nuclear explosion in a damn fridge 0-O? what the f*ck? And then the whole Mayas in Peru that was probably the most stupid thing I have ever seen in a movie but that was quickly beaten when they showed up the aliens. I know both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have boners for Aliens but dude what the hell, who wrote the script?

Read a motherf*cking book the next time.

The island in Lost makes sense when you think about it. It just skipped about a year and moved into the future. Considering everything else on Lost, that's nothing.

I loved Lego Indy, very fun game to play, especially on co-op. A lot of the complaints he makes are pretty valid, and some of them amusing, but he exagerates on most of them a little too much.

And the void levels in Mario Sunshine were the best parts of that game, the whole thing should have been like that, not that stupid flood crap!

When people wanted new music but were unsure of their tastes, I used to always recommend they watch some of Yahtzee's videos and they'd probably hear something that they'd like.

Bit of a shame I can't do that anymore.

I seem to be the only one that actually liked Indy 4. Either that or the people who liked it are sitting quiet while the people who hate it with every fiber of their being are busy pushing around everyone who don't.

Yes, it had its narmy moments. Yes, the pacing wasn't quite as good. But you know what? It was a good movie. Great? Hell no, that term's for the first three; and it's true, this wasn't as good as those. But I sure as hell enjoyed it, and so did everyone else in my family and everyone I've talked to.

That being said, going in aware of the aforementioned spoilers helped dissipate the disappointment a damn lot, so that might have something to do with it. Knowing how it ended made it a lot easier to ignore its flaws.

I really liked Indy 4 too. Sure there were a couple of corny moments, but the other movies had them too. Anyone remember jumping out of a plane with only a raft? I also don't get why people are complaining about aliens. What about face melting, magic stones, and a cup that holds everlasting life? Are aliens that far fetched?

I think the biggest problem with everyone is that the first three are so burned into our brains. Most of the people on this board grew up watching them. So we expected the perfect movie. I got what I wanted out of it. Another Indiana Jones movie. Hell, I hope they make another.

I had a good time at Indy4. I wouldn't say it was as good as any of the first 3, but I enjoyed it nontheless. It was definitely a lot better than any of the star wars prequels.

I just thought the ending was lackluster. From the moment they went through the waterfall not much happened. It just went into CGi mode and Indy was hardly involved at all. It needed a big ending fight scene or something.

I liked the copyrighted music better. It definitely added to the videos. Not using copyrighted music would be okay as well... but this new intro just sounds like generic 'cool' hard rock music. It doesn't have that funny/sarcastic undertone either.

I do miss the music though. He always used to choose cool tunes that fitted well to the subject... I actually used to look forward to seeing what tunes each video would have.
