PSN director of operations, Eric Lampel, has confirmed that Naughty Dog's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will receive a Trophy update "at some point in the foreseeable future." In fact, Lampel told GameSpy, "Ultimately, we'll have trophies for every game." But ultimately is without a deadline currently, suggesting Trophy patches will be trickling out for the, um, foreseeable future.
Still, we imagine Sony is leaning on certain studios to allocate resources to Trophy building asap. Certainly there's a greater demand for Trophy support in Uncharted than in, let's say, Genji: Days of the Blade. Then again, an actual, historically accurate award for sticking the giant crab's weak point might be reason enough to procure Genji from a dusty bargain bin and suffer through the ill-fated launch title. Massive Damage Trophy? We so want that one.

I was so pumped for the update last night until I realized right now it does almost nothing for me. Hurray stupidity!

On a side note, all this talk about trophies makes me feel like I'm visiting a taxidermy / hunting site now. I'm just imagining rows and rows of deers heads mounted on plaques. XD

1) Go back and build last-generation rumble support into your previously released games
2) Go back and build trophy support into your previously released games
3) Go back and build Home support into your previously released games
At some point, you're going to have developers that respond with, "I have a better idea, Sony. How about designing your platform correctly the first time, you douchebag?"
1. Developer adds trophies to an old game
2. Consumer says: "Hmm, I might play that again now."
3. Plays it, likes it (again).
4. Customer is now even more inclined to purchase the sequel.
It's a trade-off. What's the cost benefit analysis of spending the time to retrofit an old game versus the extra sales of the sequel due to this form of "advertisement".
I'm not saying people will just buy a sequel because of replaying an old game. I do think however some poeple will be swayed if they were on the fence.
The lack of foresight on Sony's part hurts them and their developers when they decide to add retroactive features like trophies. It's not all that surprising though, considering they released Blue-Ray on the public before finishing the spec.
Early adopters have always gotten screwed, but now developers are being included in the mix.
Also, you do have to consider the DLC factor. A fari number of games are still being worked on in one way or another anyway. It's not like updates to all old games would require devs picking up projects they've completely dropped.

The current reward thats already in the game is pretty good as well. it goes "ching" when you acheived something. Wonder if NAughty dog will delete the current acheivements.

See what I did there? Yes, I too can be moronic by harking on about the differences of one console versus another.
The way I see it is: Sony didn't place enough value on this service when designing their console. I, for one, think this was a mistake but so what. At least they're listening to their consumers and responding with: "Ok, you want it. We'll do it."
I wonder how MS would respond if all the 360 fans said to them en masse: "Hey, PS3 users don't have to pay for PSN. You should make XBL free."
Let's just say MS *DID* make XBL subscription free. Would I then post to that news post saying: "Welcome to 2006?"
You mean welcome to 2005 :P but hey, better late than never.
Fenix,
Aren't there games on XBLA arcade of the same or lesser quality than Yahoo/Msn games?...
Also, if you don't know of free to play online games, then it is quite sad man, for starters, Valve, Blizzard (other than WoW). There are also thousands of games out there that are free to play, seriously, couldn't you just look that up?
Lekko
LOL! I'm Mugatu because I feel like Im taking crazy pills sometimes.
Anyways... WOOO TROPHIES!
