Sonic Chronicles issues first trailer

Sega has released the first trailer for its turn-based RPG, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Developed by Bioware, the Nintendo DS game shows promise. The publisher obviously spared no expense in the voice-over department as the "movie voice guy" talks all dramatic-like through the trailer. Sonic Chronicles is expected to be one part of the Sega mascot's reboot this fall.

Looks much better than I expected. OK, so I expected it to be absolute garbage - but it does actually look pretty decent. Let's just hope there's not too much high pitched Sonic dialogue.

He's been called Eggman since Sonic 1 in Japan. Of course, it came out in the U.S. first, so they really should've been the ones to have a name change, not the other way around!

I love Bioware and all but... umm... ok. I've known about the game for a while but it still hasn't sunk in yet.

Is it just me or is a sonic RPG a lame idea? Sonic should be about super fast platforming, not turn based role playing.

So since the new sonic games are crap and don't work, then why does Sega think that an RPG is the answer? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the hedgehog? I don't know, just seems destined for failure.

That's the exact same thing that people said about Mario before Mario RPG and the Paper Mario series. Those work really well, so I don't see why this shouldn't.

That trailer is waay too intense for a game that will probably have a silly storyline. It'll probably be a decent game, however. I hate the "Eggman" name, I too liked the Dr. Robotnik name MUUUCH better in the series' pre-Dreamcast days. Seems to kind of water down the story.

Modern Sonic world yes also I never liked the way the 3D games included humans. It was weird, it would’ve been better with just the talking animals,the normal people seems out of place.

Is like playing Oblivion when suddenly you see Mary Mcfly passing by chased by Native Americans. It just doesn’t fit.

Classic Sonic world still had a lot of potential but it was forgotten to bring the extreme Sonic.Basically everything was great with the 2D sonic when something like this happened:

It doesn't look bad and it could be interesting even when they are expanding Sonic universe way out of proportion but it could be as good as Super Mario Paper.

I can accept Mario in a RPG maybe because I have seen Mario in other successful RPGs (Also in a lot of crap) but I can’t accept Sonic in a RPG. I’m intrigued how they fit Sonic fast gameplay into a slow RPG, maybe is the fastest Rpg ever which would be great because everyone knows it takes a good chunk of life to finish an RPG.
