Splinter Cell Conviction team now coy about development

And the Splinter Cell Conviction delay rumor-mill keeps on grinding. The latest non-conclusive statement about the possibility of a Conviction delay was made on the official Ubisoft forums in the form of an open letter from the development team. The group says that development is continuing well and they'll start showing the game in the "forthcoming months."

Rumors of Splinter Cell Conviction's possible late 2009 -10 delay began after an article was written in Xbox World 360. At the time, Ubisoft just made a "no comment." Then when the game didn't get shown at UbiDays, the publisher danced around the issue, but stuck with a release window of this fiscal year (April '08 - March '09). Well, E3 is in July -- also known as a "forthcoming month" -- and we'll be sure to pay attention if Splinter Cell Conviction makes an appearance.

I blame the new emo technology Ubisoft is using for this game.The just can't help Sam Fisher from cutting himself.

In the beta if you left the game in pause Sam would cut his wrist and when you came back you would have to start from a previous checkpoint.

It was very frustrating.

Now you understand that if they released the game early they would have a lot of problems. I don't think so.In the worst case scenario this game would go multiplatform.

To be honest I'm not a fan of Splinter cell (As silly as it sounds I like more Syphon Filter but just the PSP games) but I would like to check this game as well.

There was a rumor about Conviction going multi-plat months ago, ESC, but it hadn't come up since so I thought it was bunk. Still don't know, because delays really don't indicate one way or the other, but we'll find out eventually. I can't accept that Ubisoft would cancel what is probably their biggest title. Splinter Cell is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Ubisoft.

I'm not a big fan of Splinter Cell, mostly because I felt lots of the mechanics were useless. I think I used the split jump or hanging neck snap all of once, then found it was easier and more reliable just to shoot the guy. Metal Gear, which I love, was pretty spartan when it came to actions, but it always felt more streamlined.

I'm looking forward to this one though, and hoping all the changes that they made to the series make it feel like it flows better.
