Tabula Rasa delayed until Nov. 2

Despite confirming an October 19th release date early last month, NCSoft has announced their years-in-the-making MMO Tabula Rasa will see a minor delay, bumped two weeks back to November 2. A message from the game's producer, Starr Long (now that's a stellar name!), on the official site explains, "This short but critical amount of time will give us time to address several issues including stability and balance as well as allowing our players to test the continent of Ligo (L38+) and our major changes to crafting for a few weeks rather than a few days."

Don't get all worried pre-orderers, your Halloween plans aren't ruined after all; you'll still get the game three days early on Oct. 30. Everyone else, what can we say besides we're sorry?

Hmm, I'm worried that my on-topic comment may ruin the post but I'll do it anyway dagnabit. Anyway if the beta's any indication, which how can it not be, there's still a lot it needs to do. Which is a shame because it's different, and kind of makes me think Auto Assault which means it's probably already done for, but it's not that much better then the state Vanguard launched in. That at least wasn't something different which we know everyone hates and could pretend to be different WoW.

I tried the beta and even though I didn't expect a miracle, with Garriott behind it, I did hope for something at least a tiny bit more "revolutionary". Apart from issues of being an unfinished product, it's not so much different from any other mmo system at all. I quit when my third mission started out with "collect x creature type y hearts to prove your loyalty". Also the game is visually rather bland.

Yeah, I was also disappointed by how safe they played it. It seems like they started to go with a unique, action-oriented combat system, and then chickened out and made Anarchy Online.
